Anhui province: Disabled poverty alleviation role model contributes to pandemic prevention and control

Jin Lipeng, a 51-year-old disabled person, comes from Chashui town, Qianshan city. With the help of the Party's poverty alleviation policy, Jin escaped poverty and became a full-time commissioner for people with disabilities in the village and a local role model in poverty alleviation.

During the pandemic period Jin took the initiative to participate in pandemic prevention and control work, told the villagers not to gather, and persuaded everyone to wear masks when going out.

Jin also called persons with disabilities or their guardians in the village one by one to publicize anti-pandemic information and told them to take necessary protection measures.

Meanwhile, Jin reported relevant information to the village cadres to help the village committee accurately grasp the basic situation of the permanent population, immigrants and returnees in the village.

Henan province: Commissioners for people with disabilities work at anti-pandemic frontline

In Baofeng county, Pingdingshan city, the disabled persons’ federation organized 28 commissioners for people with disabilities to investigate the pandemic prevention situation and living conditions of the disabled, and implemented a daily report system to assist people with disabilities in solving difficulties and protect their health and safety during the pandemic period.

The commissioners set up a hotline working 24/7, established helping-accounts for 420 impoverished disabled people, took more than 4,000 door-to-door visits and served more than 2,000 people.

In Xiazhuang community of Shilong district, 11 commissioners of the disabled persons' federation guard the anti-pandemic checkpoint 24 hours a day.

In Yindu district, Anyang city, the disabled persons' federation organized all township commissioners for people with disabilities to investigate the situation of the disabled, especially the status of persons with disabilities living alone, and urged townships and villages (communities) to pay attention to their living conditions and ensure their basic security.

In Hongqi district, Xinxiang city, the commissioners for people with disabilities took the initiative to participate in the checkpoint patrols and carry out disinfections for the community.

Zhao Kun, a commissioner for people with disabilities, actively participates in household registration and investigation and pandemic prevention promotion, and encourages people with disabilities in the community to stay at home.

Guangdong province: Organizations, enterprises help people with disabilities

Since the pandemic outbreak, the Zhuhai Disabled Persons' Federation has raised more than 200,000 yuan ($28,312) of anti-pandemic materials and donations.

The Sichuan Chamber of Commerce in Zhuhai donated 10,000 yuan to the self-improvement model and entrepreneurs with disabilities, and donated 50,000 yuan to open a radio program with the Zhuhai Disabled Persons' Federation and Zhuhai Radio for people with disabilities.

In addition, an entrepreneur donated 1,000 masks and 150 bottles of rubbing alcohol hand gel. The Zhuhai Representative Office of China Guangdong Lions Clubs also donated 10,000 masks and a batch of anti-pandemic materials.

The Shenzhen Lions Clubs launched a fund activity, providing each household with five medical masks, three bottles of 100 ml alcohol disinfectant, and 300 yuan's worth of rice and oil, a value of 200,000 yuan, benefiting 561 people with disabilities in the city.

Hainan province: Speed up work resumption and production of enterprises of people with disabilities

The Hainan Disabled Persons' Federation has promoted the resumption of work and production of grassroots organizations of people with disabilities in an orderly manner.

Many enterprises of people with disabilities have completely resumed work and production. Li Wanghua, from an entrepreneurial team of handicapped college students in a garment factory, introduced that in order to solve the urgent demands for medical supplies such as protective masks, surgical gowns and quilt sheets in Hainan, eight disabled people have resumed production since the third day of the Chinese Spring Festival.

In order to better guarantee the rights and interests of the disabled, meet their service needs and help them return to work, the Hainan Disabled Persons' Federation has worked with enterprises to help disabled people and enterprises solve practical difficulties such as the supply of anti-pandemic materials, site disinfection, and commuting support.

The federation has also encouraged enterprises to carry out video recruitment and remote interviews for people with disabilities, and supported tax subsidies, tax extensions, rent reductions, and other policy subsidies and capital subsidies to service agencies for the disabled that have been affected by the pandemic.

Apart from that, the provincial disabled persons' federation, the department of finance and the bureau of tax service jointly issued a document on adjusting and optimizing the policy on employment guarantees for the disabled, helping enterprises to resume production and promote employment for people with disabilities.

Guizhou province: 85-year-old Party member makes a donation for anti-pandemic

Yang Hongbin, an 85-year-old retired Party member, went to the disabled persons' federation in Qianxinan Bouyei and Miao autonomous prefecture and donated 5,000 yuan in cash.

Yang joined the Communist Party of China in 1960.

Yang, the first chairman of the prefecture's disabled persons' federation laid a solid foundation for the cause of people with disabilities in the prefecture.

In this fight against the pandemic, as a Party member for 60 years he set an example for young Party members with his practical actions.

Chongqing municipality: Promote poverty alleviation while continue to strengthening anti-pandemic work

The disabled persons' federation in Beibei district paid great attention to the situation of disabled employees who have difficulties in daily life due to the pandemic, households with multiple disabilities, elderly disabled people and the disabled without guardians. 

The federation has visited district's disabled persons more than 100 times and delivered medicine to 298 mentally disabled persons, carried out special assistance to 111 households with more than one disabled family members, and formulated an annual assistance plan based on individual and household situations.

The district disabled persons' federation established a team to raise anti-pandemic materials and distribute them to enterprises with a relatively high concentration of disabled persons, self-employed people with disabilities and service organizations for the disabled to help them resume work and production. To date, 29 such service organizations have returned to normal operation.

In Jiangjin district, a working group was set up to investigate the planting and breeding bases of farmers with disabilities and inspect their anti-pandemic work, spring farming progress and product sale situation.

The working group also helped them implement industrial support policies and advance large-scale spring farming production.

In Dianjiang county, the disabled association sent masks and other living materials to disabled enterprises, self-employers and farmers to help them adopt anti-pandemic measures and solve their practical difficulties.

Ningxia Hui autonomous region: People with disabilities fight on the anti-pandemic frontline

Xu Jianjun is a rural doctor in Qujing town, Qingtongxia city. Xu has suffered from polio since childhood and has difficulty in walking. During the pandemic period, Xu keeps busy on the frontline of pandemic prevention and control, going door to door to register the physical temperature of the quarantined people every day and explained the pandemic prevention measures to the villagers.

Since the beginning of the Chinese Spring Festival, Chen Xuesheng, a 62-year-old Party member with disability, lives in Huinong district, Shizuishan city, took the initiative to work on the anti-pandemic frontline, guard intersection checkpoints, and carry out disinfection wherever his help was needed.

Ding Yuliang is a full-time commissioner for people with disabilities in Yuhai town, Tongxin county, Wuzhong city. Since the beginning of February, Ding has been voluntarily on duty with colleagues from the disabled persons' federation.

Ding has measured the body temperature of people entering and exiting the community and coordinated community workers to help disabled people solve difficulties due to the pandemic.

Liang Zhong is a hearing-impaired person in Chenyuantan town, Qingtongxia city. Lang works for a cleaning company in the village. During the pandemic period, Liang is responsible for the disinfection of the garbage bins in the town. He pushes a trolley for tens of kilometers every day disinfecting nearly 300 garbage collection spots along the way.
